No one likes to be
ill-treated. And that certainly includes
LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender) people. Many in the LGBT crowd feel mistreated by
people that don’t agree with them and will often make comments like, “When you
speak out against us, or when you don’t agree with our beliefs / position /
lifestyle, you are…”:
- Judging us
- Marginalizing us
- Oppressing us
- Trying to shame us
- Intolerant
- Bullying us
- Using hate-speech
- Trying to take away our freedom / civil rights
- Making us victims of your prejudice
- Taking away our dignity
- Disrespecting us
- Homophobic
Concerning their lifestyle,
they will say things like:
· “I was born that way.”
· “That’s just my orientation.”
· “We don’t agree with your ‘traditional’ [read biblical] morals.”
· “The Bible says to love your neighbor, but you’re
attacking us.”
· “The gay lifestyle may not be right for YOU, but it is
right for ME.”
· “You need to accept us because all people are equal,
right? Aren't we all made in the image of God?"
But the Bible is extremely
clear that homosexuality is a sin (Genesis 19:1-29; Leviticus 18:22;
20:13; Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:9-10; Jude 7). And furthermore, they are forgetting
or overlooking the fact that God, in His Word, puts homosexuals in the same
category as other types of sinners.
Consider these Scripture passages:
1 Corinthians 6
v. 9) Or do you not know that the
unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
v 10) nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor
drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Timothy 1
v. 8) But we know that the Law is good,
if one uses it lawfully,
v. 9) realizing the fact that law is not
made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the
ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their
fathers or mothers, for murderers
v 10) and immoral men and homosexuals
and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound
teaching
Yes, ALL the people in these
Scripture lists are living in sin and are not in God’s will. They ALL need to repent and turn from their
wicked ways. Unless they repent,
everyone in these lists will end up in Hell.
But those in the LGBT crowd
who claim to be Christians do a very interesting thing. They will consider the others in these lists as sinners and frown upon their
lifestyles. Yet, they exempt themselves
from the punishment due to all the others, and expect special treatment from
society. Rather than seeing themselves
as sinners, deserving of the punishment that God prescribes, they believe they
are somehow elevated above the others and are immune from criticism, even demanding acceptance from society.
But this is an extreme case
of special pleading because we don’t think that anyone in the LGBT crowd would
accept similar arguments from a murderer
who insists that if you don’t agree with him, you are “discriminating” against
him, and “marginalizing” him by trying to take away his freedom and his “civil
rights.” He doesn’t see anything wrong
with killing innocent people, so why are you trying to strip him of his
“dignity”?
Or what about a kidnapper who
claims that you’re “shaming” or “bullying” him when you speak against his
lifestyle of stealing children? He can’t
help it. That’s just his “orientation.” You shouldn’t pick on “minorities” like that.
Or maybe a thief who thinks
it’s ok to steal will claim that you are “intolerant” of his beliefs and you
are “judging” him. Why are you “victimizing”
him with your “hate-speech”? Remember,
it’s his life! According to the thief, stealing may not be
right for you, but it’s right for him.
Or what about a perjurer who
accuses you of “shaming” and “disrespecting” him for his way of life. He loves to lie under oath. After all, he says he was “born that way,”
and he doesn’t appreciate your “oppressing” him at all. He is offended by your “traditional” way of
seeing things.
These “arguments” are very
similar to those of the LGBT camp. So,
why wouldn’t you “Christian” homosexuals accept these claims from murderers, kidnappers, thieves and perjurers? It is because you know that their arguments are wrong. You know and accept the fact that these
people are living in sin, and are apart from God. What they are doing is wrong. But your
own sin is included in the same group!
Why is it that YOU can use
all these insults, accusations and inflammatory phrases, but THEY can’t? This is clearly a double standard – you think
that which applies to others in the same
group doesn’t apply to you.
Repent while there is still
time.
